Mango & Oats Breakfast Smoothie

A deliciously thick, lactose-free smoothie rich with the sweetness of juicy mangoes and fibre-rich oats, this is a quick, healthy, and yummy summer mango breakfast recipe!
Oh, the joys of summer holidays! There are simply so many things that I miss about being a child. But if you’d ask me to pick one thing – especially during these blistering summer days – I’d say summer holidays from school. The reasons are endless, but the day-long binge fests on orange ice candies and mangoes kind of top the list.
Adulting means being a conscious eater (rolls eyes), so I can’t gorge on those summer goodies like I did back then, but one can always get creative, right? In my books, being a conscious eater means sneaking in different ‘healthy’ ways to eat mango, a fruit I adore.
Now, I ain’t no nutritionist, so I am not going to assert that this is the healthiest thing on planet earth, but for me, seasonal fruits + oats = healthy! And hence the summer morning staple breakfast, the Mango & Oats Breakfast Smoothie. It’s that quick weekday breakfast that I can make in 15 minutes, carry to my worktable (because we are always running late!), and it keeps me full till lunchtime. So no ‘snack’ cravings because the tummy is full!
Things to remember when making the Mango & Oats Smoothie:
- Soaking the oats for 5-10 minutes in room temperature/warm water makes blending easier.
- I use raw unprocessed honey, but not daily coz sugar is sugar! If the mangoes are sweet, I simply skip the honey.
- Use chilled water to adjust the consistency of your thick shake.
- You can replace the water with milk of choice.
- Save time! Do your chopping and gathering while the oats are soaking!
